A community solar project is a local solar installation shared by multiple community subscribers. These subscribers pay a monthly fee to participate, and in turn, receive a credit on their electricity bill for their share of the power produced. The balance ends up saving subscribers money and allows them to join the fight against climate change. Win-win!
Community solar is the great equalizer. Today, many people aren’t able to install solar on their roofs for various reasons. They might rent their home instead of own, live in multi-family buildings, have roofs that are shaded or unsuitable for solar, may not be able to get a loan because of a lower credit score—the list goes on.
We think everyone should have access to clean, renewable, less expensive energy. Community solar means anyone can participate in the movement to save our planet, and save money at the same time!
